Rugged and restrained, and in its element in the city or out on the trail, the design of the 2015 Patriot still offers a lot to like.
The 2015 Patriot is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder rated at 172 hp and 165 lb-ft of torque. This six-speed automatic, front-wheel drive Patriot yields an EPA-estimated 23 mpg combined (21 city/28 highway).
Standard equipment includes 16-inch steel wheels, roof rails, foglights, cruise control, cloth upholstery, a tilt-only steering wheel, a 60/40-split-folding rear seat, a four-speaker sound system with a CD player, an auxiliary audio jack, power heated mirrors, keyless entry and power windows and locks.
Standard safety features are antilock brakes that include front discs and rear drums, traction and stability control, front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. In government crash testing, the Patriot earned an overall rating of four out of five stars, with a five-star rating for side impacts. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Patriot its highest rating of "Good" in the moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side-impact and roof strength tests.
